Multicam
A multicam group bundles several video angles of the same scene so you can cut between them quickly. This page covers creating a group, cutting between angles, and letting Evidor switch angles automatically.
Preparing the angles
Before creating a group, each angle must be on its own video track. Evidor uses the track structure to know which clips belong to which angle.
- Import all the camera files into the project.
- Add a video track for each angle (Add track → Video track).
- Place one angle on each track, aligned so that they all start at the same time.
Multicam groups support 2 to 4 angles. If you have only one angle, a group has nothing to switch between, and Evidor will refuse to create it.
Creating a group
Select all the angle clips (Shift-click, or marquee them), then use Create multicam from selection from the clip context menu, or run Create multicam from the multicam menu. Evidor will:
- Assign each clip to a numbered angle in the order of its track.
- Align all the clips to the earliest start time among them.
- Enable only the first angle in the preview. The others are hidden.
- Show a small multicam strip at the bottom of the preview.
The strip shows one button per angle, numbered 1 through 4. The currently active angle is highlighted in green.
Cutting between angles
Move the playhead to the moment you want the cut, then click an angle button in the strip, or press the number key that matches it (1 through 4). Evidor will:
- Split every angle clip at the playhead.
- Mark the selected angle's new clip as enabled, and all others as disabled.
The result is a timeline where only one angle is visible at any moment, with hard cuts at each press of a number key. If you press a number key while playback is running, the cut happens live and you keep watching.
Disabled angle clips are still on the timeline. They are drawn dimmed and marked with a small dot. You can re-enable one at any time by selecting it and choosing that angle again, or by using the multicam strip.
Grid view
The Multicam button in the preview header opens a grid view showing all angles side by side. Each tile shows the frame at the current playhead. The active angle is highlighted with a green border. Click any tile to cut to that angle.
The grid view is useful when you want to see what is happening in every camera at once, rather than cutting blind. Close the view with the same button, or by pressing Escape.
Auto multicam switch
Rather than cutting manually, you can let Evidor switch angles automatically based on which one has the most energy in each moment. Open the AI menu and choose Auto multicam switch.
Evidor samples the audio energy in each angle over the length of the group. It then picks the angle with the highest energy for each moment, treating any change of angle as a cut. Cuts are spaced at least one second apart so the result does not flicker.
The result is a rough cut. You should review it and adjust any cuts that feel wrong, but the automatic pass usually gets the overall rhythm close.
Dissolving a group
To break a multicam group back into individual clips, select any clip in the group and choose Ungroup from the multicam menu. All clips are unmarked, the strip disappears, and every clip on the timeline becomes visible again. From that point on, they behave like ordinary clips.
Audio in a multicam group
Each angle has its own audio, but only the active angle's audio plays back. When you cut between angles, the audio cuts too. If you want one angle's audio to play throughout, mute the audio tracks of the other angles, or detach audio from each angle clip and use a single master audio track underneath.
